A Real Mauritius Experience

Are you considering a Mauritius Honeymoon or a Mauritius getaway? The choice is yours. But there are a few things that you will have to consider when planning your trip to Mauritius – Where to stay, what to do, various travel options, which packages to choose and the most important thing; your travel itinerary.

To travel to any place, it is always advisable to know a bit about the country itself.

ABOUT MAURITIUS

Where is Mauritius? What is so special about Mauritius? Where on earth is it even located?

These are the very few questions that people ask when anyone say Mauritius. It’s a country that has received a lot of praise and has been a part of many movies but no one really knows what is it about?

Mauritius is located in the East of the continent of Africa and is an island of the Indian Ocean. It is a blend of Indian, African, and European influences which has luxury beaches, with hiking, mountain climbing and world-class diving opportunities.

Every beach of Mauritius is noteworthy of praise. They look exactly what the holiday brochures would have promised you. Beyond its sandy beaches, Mauritius is rich in flora and fauna which can be found nowhere else on Earth.

Friendly, welcoming, beautiful and indescribably hospitable, Mauritius offers not only fanciful weather and delicate beaches but also a cultural identity that is worth exploring.

GETTING TO MAURITIUS

It would be wrong to say that Mauritius is very accessible. But, across the world there are countries that provide both direct and stop-over flights to Mauritius. You can choose Qatar Airways as one of your options for the flights. If you’re traveling from Dubai to Mauritius, the travel time would be 6 hours and 35 minutes for a direct flight. And believe it, those 6 hours would be worth your time.

BEST TIME TO GO

It could be good to say that Mauritius is all around the year destination. Its peak season starts from October to April.

Mauritius is blessed with a micro climate which it makes it possible that in one part of the island it would be raining and there would be sun shining just 5 minutes away.

VISA AND PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS

  • To enter Mauritius, a valid passport is required with at least one blank page for all nationalities.
  • Canadian, UK, Australian, USA and few of the European Union countries do not require a visa to enter Mauritius.
  • Citizens of India and UAE do not require a visa for traveling to Mauritius.
  • For nationals who do not require a visa are granted a 14 days or 60 day visa on arrival.

THINGS TO DO

For as long as anyone can remember, Mauritius has been synonymous with honeymoons on beaches. While we agree that it has one of the gorgeous beaches in the world, there is still scope of doing offbeat things in Mauritius. It isn’t known to be a paradise for nothing.

Let’s get to the point and see the things you can do in Mauritius.

1.       TRY THE DELICIOUS STREET FOOD

Mauritius street food is famous across the world. It is a fusion of Creole, Indian, African and Chinese that bursts out with sophisticated flavors.

2.       HIRE A CAR AND GO FOR A DRIVE AROUND THE ISLAND

Renting a car isn’t so popular in Mauritius. However, if you’re even a tad bit adventurous then hiring a car would be a great option. Nothing is comparable to discover secret beaches and restaurants all by yourself. Just remember, not to rely on your GPS in Mauritius.

3.       HAVE A VISIT TO THE TEA PLANTATIONS

Imagine a road surrounded by tea plantations and enveloped with fog and you’re the only one visiting it with your group of people. Interesting, isn’t it?

As you drive on the roads, you will see tea pickers rhythmically plucking the leaves. If you’re a tea lover, then you can always take a guided tour of the tea plantation.

4.       EXPERIENCE THE BEAUTY OF THE SUGARCANE FIELDS

Vast Sugarcane fields are the first thing you will notice about the island. They seem to stretch up to miles and offer a stunning view. Better still, visit L’Aventure Du Sucre – a famous sugar museum with its own gorgeous sugarcane fields. It provides a broad overview of the history of sugarcane and its importance for the island. While you’re at it, don’t leave Mauritius without trying a glass of fresh sugarcane juice, IT IS THE BEST!

The highlight of any trip you make to Mauritius will be its people. They are so warm, welcoming and extremely helpful.  They have got so much to share with any new person who has entered Mauritius.

That’s it! We hope you enjoyed our list of things to do in Mauritius. Mauritius has so much to offer that it’s difficult to sum it up in one post.
