All About Etihad Museum

“Museums are a path that guide us to the journey of the past while showing us everything that we would have ever lured to know”.

Don’t you think museums are a great way of knowing what existed? Something that just gets us closer to the history that might have had so many twists and turns.

One such tale of museums is of The Etihad Museum that is located in the city of Dubai.

SO WHAT IS THIS MUSEUM ALL ABOUT?

A dynamic 21st century based museum that focuses on inspiring its visitors with a story of the United Arab Emirates.

The Etihad Museum narrates a story of the Forefathers in making UAE what it is today. The museum was inaugurated on the 2nd December which marks to be the National Day of UAE, a date when the seven emirates that make up UAE (Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Umm al Quwain and Abu Dhabi) joint their hands together to be one country.

The museum is run by the Dubai Culture and Arts authority and completely focuses on the political history of UAE and the personal stories of each individual who has been a part of this journey of excellence of the unification of the seven emirates.

The ruler of Dubai and the Vice President of UAE, HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid presented his views on the museum by saying that The Etihad Museum is where their shared duty towards UAE contributed into the beginning of this historical milestones that led and supported the establishment of the United Arab Emirates.

From 1968 until 1974, the phase of UAE shall be viewed through photos, films and documents that would be somewhat interactive and would depict a story to every visitor.

Everything ranging from old passports to personal artefacts like rings, glares, old stamps and rare items are on display for the public to experience the transformation.

The design of the Museum has a complex that is restored as the oval shaped Union House where in 1971 the rulers signed a declaration marking the birth of United Arab Emirates to the world. Even the logo of the museum is inspired by the original shape of the Union House.

Etihad Inside

Within the Museum, upon your visit you shall witness that the shape of it from inside is in the shape of a manuscript that is an inspiration by the Unification Agreement that has seven columns that represent the pens that were used to sign the declaration of the constitution in the year 1971.

Library

The gallery has permanent and temporary halls, with a theatre as well as an educational & recreational area that has interactive maps and videos to grab the attention of the visitors and educate them on the rights, privileges and responsibilities that the people of UAE are blessed with.

Within the Museum, that are halls that are themed, each one dedicated to the story of the Forefathers through their pictures, belongings with biographies.

Beside the museum is a Guest House which is one of the famous historical building because it is said to be the place where the Rulers met before the unification.

Etihad Inside

The main focus of building the museum was to inspire citizens and tourists all around the world and to convey the remarkable founding story of UAE and consider this museum as a reliable source of history and culture of the nation.

The museum is open daily from 10am to 8pm and the general admission fee is Dh 25.
