Let’s see what makes Armenia so amazing!
It is referred to as one of the sacred mountains of Armenia and is being regarded as a dream to be achieved. The snow-capped Mount Ararat is an inactive volcanic mountain of Armenia. The mountain of Ararat is said to be where the Noah’s Ark landed. What makes this mountain unique is that it shares its border with the territory of Turkey.
It has been a symbol of many paintings, songs and movies and mostly everything that has to do with Armenia.
LAKE SEVAN
Armenia doesn’t have any access to the sea, and this might be a killer for the many of us, but it has blue pearl that is a treasure to all the Armenians – this pearl is known as the Lake Sevan. The beauty of this lake is that when you sit on its bank, it may seem that the water is about to touch the sky.
This lake has been the pride of Armenia since ages and has been a popular destination where almost all Armenians head for enjoying their great summer days. Every Armenian, regardless of any reasons, has been to this lake because the little we have, the more we treasure.
In addition to this, Lake Sevan is one of the freshwater high mountain lakes located in Eurasia. It is the main source of irrigation water in the whole of Armenia.
NORAVANK
The centuries old monastery of Armenia, famously known as Noravank is hauntingly a preserved religious complex that wouldn’t be standing today if it were not a representation of God. The century was built in the 13th century and is an amazing example of ornate architecture of that era. It comprises of three surviving churches that has its own religious beliefs.
The name Noravank means “New monastery” in the Armenian language and it remains to be one of the most sacred sites of Armenia, till date.
KHOR VIRAP
Every Armenian knows about the existence of this unique attraction in Armenia which has now gained popularity among visitors too. This monastery is a place of pilgrimage and is one of the most worshipped sites that Armenia has.
It is located closely at the border of Turkey and Armenia near the village of Pokr Vedi. Khor Virap is a prime destination of visit in Armenia because this is where St. Gregory The Illuminator was imprisoned for 13 years before therapizing the King Trdat III of a disease.
