If you have ever tried to look out for Seychelles on the world map, you will notice it as a tiny dot in the Indian Ocean. An archipelago of 115 islands that can be found glittering all around the year, is mostly known for its visa free entries, luxury resorts and paradisiac beaches. It is one of the isolated, dreamy locations that one often sees in movies.
Now because it is booming destination and many people are wanting to travel here, there are certain questions that we have come across from our clients, and we are here to answer them.
1. Can I visit Seychelles on a budget?
Yes, you can. It’s simple. Choose to stay in the growing affordable places to stay particularly on the islands of Mahe, Praslin and La Digue. These properties range from self-catering to guesthouses that offer an intimate experience.
There’s a host of cheaper options for dining out, from shore-edge restaurants where diners can feel the sand between their toes to stalls offering Creole staples such as grilled fish and chicken curry which is good enough to satisfy your hunger, not that it is not delicious.
By making your own meals and bringing with you some food and alcohol (within the country’s custom import laws and alcohol allowance), you’ll save buckets of Seychellois rupees.
There are also affordable ferry services that run between the 3 main islands of Seychelles.
- Travel Tip: Seychelles is also not a place you can show up and hope for the best. At the airport upon entry you will have to show proof you’ve booked accommodations plus an onward ticket.
2. Can I organize a trip for myself to Seychelles?
Traveling to Seychelles is safe and easy. The tourism infrastructure is good and English is a widely spoken language across the island. It is not always required to opt for tours within the island. You’re flexible to follow your nose and explore the island by your own.
Always make sure you have booked your accommodation before traveling to Seychelles because that would be proof that is required at the time of your arrival at Seychelles. Also, do not forget to buy yourself a travel insurance in case of any emergency.
3. How do I cut my costs?
Ultimately, the only one way you can save your costs is by staying only in one island of your choice. Traveling to other islands will just add onto your expenses.
Traveling during the off-seasons is also a good option. During these times, there are discounts and offers on airfares and accommodation which would be a good thing, especially if you’re coming with a fixed budget to spend. Don’t worry about the temperatures, it is moderate so it is not that hot and neither is it too cold.
Try and cook for yourself instead of choosing the outside dining options every day. Don’t think it’s going to be boring, it is an experience on its own. You can also travel across the island either by walking or public buses to reduce your cost on transportation.
How much will I spend on activities?
The good thing about Seychelles is that none of the beaches are exclusive only for the hotels, which means that anyone can use the beach to swim or simply lounge on.
Various adventure activities like snorkeling would cost you around ($130). You can also hire a snorkeling kit on rent every day for about ($15 per day).
