Has anyone ever needed a reason to visit an island? Escaping from the day-to-day hustle is important as there is less time for relaxation. Seychelles is an island where nature and unmatched sense of space and privacy awaits for anyone who travels here.

Seychelles consists of 115 islands each of which has its own gift and mystic draw. Its location in the Indian Ocean makes it the place of trade for the French traders and sailors who arrived at its shore. Because of the interaction with these traders, Seychelles offers a diversified blend of cultures of French, British, African, Indian, Chinese and the Arabs. Along with the cultures, it boasts some of the best beaches in the world.

Because every island in Seychelles is different from each other, many visitors choose a two or three day’s holidays. But here are a few things to do in Seychelles:

1. Cycle the path not taken.

For less than 10 Euros you can rent a bike or a cycle and cover a lot. If you are a keen traveler and want to get away from the classic tourists traps and feel like discovering the island by yourself, then this is a perfect idea.

2. Be friends with the giant tortoises.

Only in Seychelles one can get a chance of making relations with some of the biggest tortoises on the planet. Seychelles is home to Aldabra tortoises which around 500 in number.

3. Sip a champagne while the sun sets.

Known that the beaches get busy during the day, it’s better to enjoy the beauty of the beaches in the evening while the sun is setting. Enjoy a bottle of champagne near the beach and absorb the warmth, colors and sounds around you.

4. Cool yourself down with the world’s heaviest and biggest coconut.

The rare Coco De Mer palm tree is the world’s rarest species which only grows on the island of Seychelles. They are now extinct so grab your hands on them before they are gone.

5. Its HILL time.

Climb the Morne Blanc which is the highest peak of Seychelles and get to see the leftovers of the flora and fauna that existed with the dinosaurs and traces of volcanoes. Not only will you get the best view of the island you are on, but also of the other islands that make up the archipelago.

6. Give yourself the time to learn to make tea.

There is a tea factory on the island of Mahe that offers a tour of the tea plantation. You can enjoy a freshly brewed cup of tea while you learn how to make it.

7. Bath in the waterfalls.

Nothing less than a dream come true is taking a midnight shower in the waterfalls. If you ever visit Seychelles then do not forget to take a dip in the Sauzier Waterfalls which are as beautiful as the moonlight.

8. Take a dive with the sharks.

Surprisingly, Seychelles is the best place in the world to dive with whale sharks. It’s not scary honestly, it’s just too much fun.

9. Mingle around in the bus.

If you’re a crazy traveler and really like interacting with people, then take a chance and blend your daily life with the locals.

10. Turn yourself into a conservationist for the day.

It’s a pretty new and a noble idea of to help encourage the protection of wildlife and maintenance of the land. You can donate your time for a day and engage yourself in planting trees, clearing marine litter in exchange for food, knowledge and once in a life-time experience.

11. Go crazy clubbing.

Probably might not be the very first thing on your itinerary, but once the cocktails start sinking in, you never know where the night will take you.

12. Search for the rumored treasure.

Talcum powdered beaches with the ones wrapped in topaz waters is just a regular scene in Seychelles. Somewhere between the beauties, lies the rumored a stash of 100,000 euros treasure which was left by the infamous pirate Olivier Le Vasseur.

13. Take a helicopter ride over the islands.

Aside from just taking a quick island hop, helicopter flights are a great way of seeing Seychelles. Although this may cost you a bag full of Seychellois rupees, it is still recommended if you’d like to see and explore the island.

14. Catch and cook.

15. Horse ride on the beaches of Seychelles.

This is a must try for all the couple out there, to take a ride on the horse by the beach and enjoy the breeze of the island.

For the ones who are nature lovers and are keen on experiencing and catching the winks of the stars and the light of the moon, then consider camping on the beach of Seychelles. Just be aware of the bugs though.
