The reality of a solo travel is way different from what people perceive it to be, and is usually completely different from the actual scenario.
Every day with the way the world is changing and with the pace at which people are adapting the change is crazy. For whatever reason you’re taking this solo trip, remember it takes guts and you should really make the most out of it.
With traveling alone, comes responsibility. Well, solo traveling isn’t that scary if you follow certain tips that we’ve got in store for you all.
HAVE CONFIDENCE
You’ll be on your own for the first time, and there is nothing you can do about it except of being confident on what you’re doing and the decisions that you’re taking.
Just by being confident you’ll be able to look approachable to the ones that are right and not an easy target for the ones who are wrong. Just follow “Fake it, until you make it”. Believe it, this works.
INDULGE IN
Standing out as a foreign tourist can attract tourist scams and distasteful looks towards you. So the best option is to blend yourself well into the local culture of the country you’re traveling to. In this way, you’ll also be able to get a bit closer to the culture of the destination and understand it pretty well.
SMILE
This doesn’t even have to be a tip; it just really goes without even saying. But the fact is, smiling and laughter are the two best medicines to cure any problems. A friendly smile can solve anything and can lead to a nice friendly conversation with any stranger.
BACK UP PLANS!!!
The biggest tip anyone would give you is to have back up plans while you’re traveling. Have your address and emergency contact details with you in person. Carry your passport in a well concealed and in a safe manner and always carry extra cash with you in your wallet or somewhere that could be a secret place or so.
ADVANCE RESERVATIONS
As it is your very first trip alone, and you don’t want any tragedies it’s better to go easy on yourself. Book your accommodation, flight tickets and transfers in advance and receive a confirmation upon reserving. Always have the contact details of all your service providers so that you can get hold of them at any point of time.
ONLY TAKE WHAT IS REQUIRED
When you travel alone, it’s more like you’ve got to be a responsible traveler. So before you fly, make sure you make a list of things that is essential for you and only take those along. When you’re traveling out, make sure you leave your expensive gadgets in well-concealed pockets so it is not accessible by pick pockets.
Also, never keep all your valuables in one single bag. Hide them in different places of your body and your passport too. So that, just in case of any bad incident, you don’t end up losing all your valuables.
SIMPLY EXPLORE
Don’t stay stuck up in your hotel bedroom, under the quilt while you’re skyping or face timing with your friends and family.
Solo traveling gives you an opportunity of see the world out there and indulge yourself in doing things that you may have never thought of. It can be a bit scary at first, but there’s always a first time.
ULTIMATELY, JUST RELAX
Being stressed in an unfamiliar environment is common. But don’t let this overhead you. Just do yourself a favor and relax. You’ve made the first step to your journey, so take it down slowly but don’t forget to enjoy.
