Let’s start by saying that Ramadan is indeed the holiest month of the year and the most important month for all the Muslims across the world. This Islamic month of Ramadan is running from June to July this year.

If you’re an avid traveler, and would like to travel during the month of Ramadan to any of the Muslim-majority region during this time, then it’s always good to take precaution before you harm the sentiments of any Muslim. In many countries like UAE, the daily lifestyle changes completely.

Visitors can get a chance to see a whole new side to these regions.

TIPS FOR THE MUSLIMS WHILE TRAVELING

1.       Travel Schedule

It is advisable to plan your schedule wisely when you’re traveling during the month of Ramadan. Avoid traveling during the sehr and the iftar time.

2.       Expect The Unexpected

Traveling is one of the most unpredictable things we do in life. You never know what might end up happening. You may get stuck into a traffic jam, or probably miss a flight or get stuck up with customs. It’s all unpredictable.

But, precaution is better than cure. Always stock up yourself with snacks especially dates and a bottle of water so that you don’t miss out on breaking your fast or having a meal before you commence your fast.

3.       Make Your Need Known

Always openly speak about your needs to the hotel you’re residing in. You may want to enquire about a nearby mosque or regarding the food during your stay in the hotel. Whatever maybe your concern, it is never too late to ask them about it.

Mostly, hotel accommodations are willingly trying to make special arrangements for Muslims during the Holy month of Ramadan.

TIPS FOR THE NON-MUSLIMS WHILE TRAVELING

 

1.       Basic Knowledge

Ramadan is the month of purity and it is advisable to restrain yourself from harmful consumptions and concentrate on spiritual renewal. Ramadan isn’t really a month of night parties and enjoyment but a month where you can ask for forgiveness to God. It’s the time you can shower your generosity on the needful.

So, if at all you travel during this Holy month then do not abstain yourself from doing good deeds.

 

2.       Plan Properly

Like any holiday does, Ramadan also affects the business and isn’t the best time to visit quite a lot of places. Many venues would have limited time hours. So, always book everything prior to travel including, accommodation, tours, transportation.

Plan your meals in advance as many restaurants and hotels would be shut until it is the time to break the fast. Packed lunches are a good option.

Also, alcohol will not be widely available which means there is a lesser probability for you to party especially if you’re traveling to a Muslim nation.

3.       Know The Local Laws & Customs Properly

Check all the laws and regulations of the country before you travel as some countries are stricter than you would expect them to be. Non-Muslims are not obliged to fast but are often restricted to eat and drink in public and in front of people who would be fasting.

It is also good to dress modestly during this Holy month.
