With the increased level of stress and anxiety, that one question we may ask anyone and often to ourselves is – what is something that we want to do quite often and are not able to do it? The answer is “TRAVEL”. And the next question that arises is Why? The automatic response is “money” or “financial issues”. But, traveling doesn’t have to be expensive if you plan everything properly.
Here are few tips if you’re willing to travel but with a budget in hand or if you’re a group of friends or college students who have a fixed budget.
- PLAN AHEAD
Everything will get expensive the longer you wait and keep it on hold – airline tickets & accommodations especially. And not to forget, those early bird offers that certain companies have on certain holiday or travel packages.
So, it is advisable to always plot your destination first and start scouting all the deals.
- TRAVEL DURING THE OFF PEAK SEASONS
It is always good to travel during off-peak times as it can cut down your costs. Peak time can vary destination to destination, but typically it is good to avoid holidays and summer breaks for travel if you’re on a budget.
- WATCH OUT FOR FLIGHT FARES
Flight fares are notorious and keep changing. So make sure you are well-informed about the increase or decrease of the airfare you have chosen. Always make sure you book you flight at the cheapest rate you’ve got. Do not wait for it to decrease because there might be no guarantee of that.
Tip: Sign up for a price alert for different airlines. So when you’re about to book you’ll know your best option to choose from.
4. EXPAND YOUR SEARCH
If you’re planning to travel to big cities like Rome or London don’t just choose the main international airport to travel to. Occasionally it is much cheaper to fly into a lesser known airport. This method requires a bit more research but if you want to save that handful of notes you have got, then this is a good solution.
What we can suggest is to always consult a travel agency for this. Travel agents have an access to the cheapest options for your travel, making it quite an easy trick for you to explore even the bigger cities with some hansom money.
- DITCH THOSE BULKY BAGS
Now most of us have got this habit of packing our luggage in those huge hulky suitcases. NO! Avoid doing that. Leave those bags at home. The smaller the bag, the more you will restrict yourself from spending a lot on shopping. And also, if you’re traveling to various other destinations, the carrying the bulky bags would be tiresome.
6. BOOK CHEAP HOTELS
Sure, the little bars of soap and fresh white sheets of are nice and warm to the eyes, but this luxury can pack on a hundred more dollars to your budget. There are a variety of other options that are available for travelers ranging from hostels to sharing apartments where you can share a spare or couch to crash on in each city you visit. There are also cheap hotels that have Room only basis which can be a good option too. Tourism companies usually tend to provide these possibilities. Since travel agencies have tie ups with many hotels and resorts, you as a traveler might as well end up getting something luxurious at an economical rate through them. Always consult before taking a decision.
7. SEE WHAT IS FREE AND LESS VISITED
Each place has its must see areas and are regularly they accompany a sticker price. Pick maybe a couple of must-see spots, then fill whatever is left of your days with free choices. Regularly, parks are an incredible place to appreciate the view and possibly get a free show. Before you leave for your excursion, explore the neighborhood galleries also – some of them offer free or marked down days.
8. CHECK FOR SOME EXCLUSIVE DISCOUNTS
Check out discounts from tours to spa days to great discounts on merchandise. If you are planning to hit a destination during your stay, be sure to surf some discount sites first to see how you might be able to save.
- BUY A TRAVEL INSURANCE
Often avoided but the most important part of travel is purchasing an insurance policy for yourself that could cover all your emergency expenses like medical or even loss of luggage or cancellation of your flight. In such cases, a travel insurance will be the best when in time of need and can also help you save a hundred dollars.
- ENJOY YOUR TRIP
Who said people on budgets cannot enjoy their trip. Living in luxurious houses and eating sophisticated food is not what makes the travel special, it’s the moments that leave you mesmerized and the time you have spent doing what you like the most, is what makes your travel memorable. So, regardless of whatever, enjoy your trip.
