The following announcements have been made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation who posted a series of tweets regarding the visa-free travel arrangements to Canada.
This announcement brought a boom among the Emiratis who are exempted from Canada visa requirements.
Any UAE national holding a diplomatic, special mission or an ordinary passport should mandatorily apply for an electronic travel authorization or an e-visa as it is called as before landing at any of the Canadian International airports. The cost of per e-visa has been declared to be of $7 (CAD) i.e. around AED 20.
This eTA is also valid for a span of 5 years, or in some cases even valid until the passport is said to expire. The total duration of the stay permitted is 6 months per entry or visit.
All UAE nationals who are holders of diplomatic, special mission, VIP or ordinary passports are exempted of the electronic visa while arriving at the Canadian territory by car, bus, train or cruise ships.
Due to the eTA, the Canadian officials will be able to screen travelers for permissibility before boarding their flight to Canada.
All Emiratis were permitted to apply for a Canadian electronic permit on the 5th of June 2018.
The Republic of Guyana and UAE have also signed a bilateral agreement earlier last month where Emirati citizens, holders of VIP, diplomatic or regular passports can obtain a visa on arrival from the Republic of Guyana upon arrival. Guyana that is located along the northeastern coast of the South American continent overlooks The Atlantic Ocean and has Brazil to its South.
The initiative taken by both the countries reflects UAE’s international stature and emphasizes the growth and development of bilateral relations between both the countries, thereby increasing tourism, investment, and trade.
